Dr. Buckenheimer attended West Virginia University to attain his undergraduate degree in Biology. He then earned his DMD Degree from the University of Pittsburgh in 1980. He came to Tampa that year and underwent a General Practice Residency program for one year. Dr. Buckenheimer has practiced General Dentistry in Tampa since 1981.
Dr. Buckenheimer has been President of several dental organizations throughout his career, giving back to the profession of dentistry. He served as President of the Hillsborough County Dental Association, the Hillsborough County Dental Research Clinic, the West Coast District Dental Association and the Florida Dental Association. He has been a Board member of the Florida Dental Association Foundation for over 25 years and was their President for two years. He is currently Florida’s Trustee to the American Dental Association whose headquarters are based in Chicago. He serves on various committees and as a Board member of the American Dental Association’s Foundation and the Dental Lifeline Network.
Dr. Buckenheimer enjoys his patients and giving back to the community. He has organized several charity events and has served on many community service boards. He also enjoys golf, travel, flyfishing and spending time with family.
Dr. Bulnes was born and raised in Tampa. Attended the University of South Florida to attain his undergraduate degree in Chemistry. He then earned his DMD Degree from Southern Illinois University in 2000. He then obtained his Advanced Education in General Dentistry in 2001 from Southern Illinois University. Dr. Bulnes has practiced General Dentistry in Tampa since 2001.
Dr. Bulnes has been President of several dental organizations throughout his career, giving back to the profession of dentistry. He served as President of the Hillsborough County Dental Association and the West Coast District Dental Association. He is a Trustee to the Florida Dental Association and serves Florida as their representative to the Council on Dental Benefits and Programs at the American Dental Association headquartered in Chicago, IL. He also presently is the Clinical Co-Chair for the FDAF’s Mission of Mercy which is a free clinic that produces between $1.7 – $2.9 million of free dental care over a 2 day period.
Dr. Bulnes enjoys his patients and giving back to the community. He has organized several charity events and has served on many community service boards. Dr. Bulnes and his wife, Kelsey, have three children. Outside interests include spending time with family, traveling, coaching, golf, distance running, and triathlon.
Dr. Sheffield was born and raised in Tampa, Florida, and attended the Academy of the Holy Names from Kindergarden through High School. She attended the University of Notre Dame and earned her undergraduate degree in Science Business in 2005, then received her doctorate of dental surgery from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry in 2009. Following dental school she practiced general dentistry in Chicago for six years, and recently decided to return to Tampa to be closer to her family and escape the cold winters of the Midwest.
Dr. Sheffield is an active member of the American Dental Association, Florida Dental Association, Hillsborough County Dental Association, West Coast Dental Association, and Academy of General Dentistry.
In her free time, Dr. Sheffield enjoys working out, doing yoga, bike riding, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
Diana graduated from St. Petersburg Jr. College and has been a hygienist for 29 years. She has been a proud member of our staff since 2005. Diana has continued her dental education by getting certified to administer anesthesia. On her down time, she volunteers her services to organizations such as Mission of Mercies, which provides free dental care for those in need.
As a local, Diana grew up living in S. Tampa, enjoys travel, is an animal lover, and is the favorite fun aunt at family gatherings.
Joy Davis started her dental career working in general dentistry as a receptionist’s assistant and then continued her education to become a certified registered dental hygienist. Joy earned her Associate of Science degree in Dental Hygiene from Tallahassee Community College, followed by a Bachelor of Applied Science in Dental Hygiene from St. Petersburg College.
For the past 18 years, she has worked in private practice serving both general dentists and periodontists, and is also an adjunct professor in the Dental Hygiene programs at St. Petersburg College and Valencia College in Orlando, Florida. Joy’s knowledge and experiences with dentists, dental team members, patient care and student teaching will provide a positive experience with Drs. Bulnes, Buckenheimer and Sheffield, as she has a seasoned understanding of the needs and wants of a patient.
Originally from Wisconsin, Joy currently resides in St. Petersburg with her husband, their two young children and their dog, Scout. They are avid fans of their children’s soccer games, Orlando City and Rowdies’ soccer games, Florida State football games, and also enjoy going to the parks and beaches.
Jenna was born in Tampa, FL and attended University of Tampa and received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 2007. She furthered her education at St Petersburg College and received her Associate of Science in Dental Hygeine in 2013. Jenna resides in South Tampa and is married to Ryan and recently a new addition arrived. Bouncing baby boy Jackson. She enjoys her Hungarian Vizsla Wrangler.
Jenna and her family enjoy the beach, Downtown Riverwalks and just about anything outdooors. Jenna is active participant in the community, in particular the Junior League of Tampa.
Kaitlin has been with Dr. Buckenheimer and Bulnes team since 2012. She is originally from Cocoa Beach, Florida. Moving to Tampa in 2010, she received her education at Hillsborough Community College with her Expanded Functions Dental Assistant degree. Prior to receiving her EFDA degree, she completed her Associates Degree at Brevard Community College.
As a dental assistant she likes meeting patients and making sure they leave completely satisfied. In her spare time she travels to new places, spends time with her family, and enjoys beautiful days at the beach
Sarah is one of our Dental Assistants and an Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) from Ohio. Sarah has been a Dental Assistant since 2007 and has been with our practice since 2015. In Ohio, Sarah attended Sinclair Community College in Dayton where she received her EFDA certificate with honors.
It was her passion for aesthetic, Science and caring for others that lead her to a career in dentistry. Sarah now resides in South Tampa with her husband, two dogs and growing family.
Jelyitsa Rubis has 13 years experience in the dental field. She’s a native Texan that resides in South Tampa with her husband of 7 years and two daughters. Together with her family, she enjoys to travel and spend time at the beach.
Teresa joined the practice in 1988 as an Expanded Functions Dental Assistant where she worked along side of Dr. Buckenheimer for more than 10 years. She later joined the front office staff and furthered her education by earning an Associates of Arts degree at Hillsborough Community College followed by a Bachelors Degree at University of South Florida.
Teresa is proud to be a part of the Dental profession. She has taught in the Dental Assisting program at Hillsborough Community College and is currently serving as the Chairperson for the Dental Advisory Committee.
Teresa was born and raised in Tampa, Florida. She is married with 2 children, a son and a daughter and 2 granddaughters. Teresa is an avid reader and she and her husband enjoy camping, visiting National parks and serving those in need.
